Good morning everyone. God bless you in the name of our risen Lord and savior Christ Jesus. How are you all doing this fine morning. Let’s open with a word of prayer.
Thank you, Father, for today. For blessing me as I teach your Word. Thank you for giving us this day to fellowship around your Word. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
Take you bibles and turn to Proverbs Chapter 3. Today we are going to look at trusting God in our everyday lives. I am going to try to show you how to do that from the Word and through events in my life where I have had to trust Him.
1 My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments:
2 For length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add to thee.
3 Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: bind them about thy neck; write them upon the table of thine heart:
4 So shalt thou find favour and good understanding in the sight of God and man.
5 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
7 Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the Lord, and depart from evil.
8 It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones.
9 Honour the Lord with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase:
10 So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine.
I want to take a closer look at verses 5 and 6. Verse 5 begins with the word TRUST.
Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
Trust = bâṭach = be confident or sure. Greek equivalent word = peíthō = to trust, have confidence, be confident.
Heart = lêb = inner man, mind, will, heart, understanding. Greek equivalent word = noûs = mind, thinking; understanding, insight.
Lean = shâ‛an = to lean on, trust in, support. Greek equivalent word = epanapaúomai = to rest on, rely on.
Understanding = bı̂ynâh = discernment. Greek equivalent word = aisthánomai = to perceive with the mind.
Have complete confidence, without any doubt, in the Lord with all your understanding, all your comprehension; and do not rely on your sense knowledge or worldly knowledge or comprehension.
In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
Acknowledge = yâda‛ = to know. Greek equivalent word = epiginṓskō = to know by experience.
Direct = yâshar = to be straight or even. Greek equivalent word = euthýs = straight, that is, (literally) level, or (figuratively) true.
Path = 'ôrach = a well-trodden road or journey. Greek equivalent word = hodós = a way (i.e. manner) of thinking, feeling, deciding.
How my trust in the Lord has helped me through the different opportunities in my life and kept me alive to worship Him.
